Learning Opportunities

There are many ways to participate in the archaeology taking place at Poplar Forest.  The Archaeology Department offers an annual summer field school in historical archaeology through the University of Virginia for undergraduate students, graduate students, and other interested individuals.  Internships are also offered each year to undergraduate and graduate-level students interested in working alongside Poplar Forest archaeologists on semester-long projects of their choosing.  In addition, volunteer opportunities are available for interested members of the public to help the archaeology staff year round.
