Poplar Forest Hosts Author Alan Crawford on April 5 

Author of “Twilight at Monticello” to sign copies

  

Forest, VA -- Alan Pell Crawford, author of the latest book on Thomas Jefferson, Twilight at Monticello: the Final Years of Thomas Jefferson, will be at Poplar Forest on Saturday, April 5, 2008 to talk with visitors and sign copies of his book. The book signing will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Poplar Forest Museum Shop.  

In Twilight at Monticello, Mr. Crawford examines Thomas Jefferson’s final years, focusing on the nearly 20 years that followed his presidency – from his return to Virginia in 1809 until his death in 1826. The book has been reviewed by the Wall Street Journal, Chicago Sun Times, Washington Post, Publishers Weekly and the San Francisco Examiner. “Crawford,” the Houston Chronicle wrote, “presents a new Jefferson for a new generation." 

Alan Pell Crawford is the author of several books and his writings have appeared in American History, The Washington Post, and The New York Times. He is a regular book reviewer for The Wall Street Journal. Recently, Crawford has had a residential fellowship at the International Center for Jefferson Studies at Monticello. He lives in Richmond, Virginia.
