Directions to the Poplar Forest Service Entrance
Due to weight and size restrictions on the main entrance drive, buses and RV's are asked to use the service entrance onto the property.  Directions to the service entrance are given below.  (For directions to the main entrance, click here.)

From D.C. and Charlottesville:
Take 29 South toward Lynchburg. After passing the intersection of 29 and 60 at Amherst, continue straight on 29 South (sign will say toward Lynchburg/Danville). At this point you will be on the newly opened bypass around Lynchburg. Continue on 29 South approximately 11 miles.  After you cross the James River, exit onto 460 West toward Lynchburg / Roanoke.  Remain on 460 West for approximately 14 miles, to a stoplight at the intersection with Route 811. (You will be passing all the Lynchburg exits as you drive this stretch of 460. Shortly before reaching the 811 intersection you will pass the New London Academy, on your right.  Turn right onto 811 (Thomas Jefferson Road).  After +/- 3.7 miles turn right onto Rt. 622 (Waterlick Road) and proceed .7 miles to Bannister Road on your left.  Turn left onto Bannister and proceed to the stop sign.   Turn right onto Ramblewood Road.  Proceed to the 2^nd left at Foxhall Drive.  Turn left onto Foxhall Drive and proceed approximately .4 miles.  The “Poplar Forest Service Entrance” will be on the left.  Follow the gravel driveway to the parking area.

From Roanoke:
Take Route 460 east for approximately 40 miles. At Route 811 (Thomas Jefferson Road) turn left at light and proceed for 3.8 miles to Route 622 (Waterlick Road). Turn right onto Waterlick Rd. and proceed .7 miles to Bannister Rd. on your left.   Turn left onto Bannister and proceed to the stop sign.  Turn right onto Ramblewood Road.  Proceed to the 2^nd left, which is Foxhall Drive.  Turn left onto Foxhall Drive and proceed approximately .4 mile.  The “Poplar Forest Service Entrance” will be on the left.  Follow the gravel driveway to the parking area.

From Appomattox:
Driving west on US Route 460 from Richmond and Appomatox continue on Rte. 460 West and follow signs for “Roanoke West 460/North 501”.  As you approach Lynchburg on 460W, you will pass Liberty University.  Continue to    exit “Rte. 678, Airport Road to Greenview Drive”.  As you exit stay to the right and continue to the traffic light at Greenview Drive and Leesville Road.  Continue through the traffic light remaining on Greenview Drive to the light at Timberlake Road.  Turn left on Timberlake Road (Business 460) and continue for 1.2 miles to the 5^th traffic light at Waterlick Road (Route 622).   Turn right on Waterlick Road and continue 1.5 miles to Bannister Place (passing  Locksley Place, Londonberry Road, Kirkley Place and Whitney Place).  Follow Bannister to the stop sign and turn right onto Ramblewood Road.  Continue on Ramblewood to the second street and turn left onto Foxhall Drive.  Continue for approximately .4 miles to the “Poplar Forest Service Entrance” on the left.  Follow the gravel driveway to the parking area.

From Lexington:
Take Route 501 South over the mountains. Near Lynchburg, bear right to follow 501 South/Lynchburg Expressway for 3 miles. At light, bear right to continue on 501 South.  Follow US 501 to Graves Mill Road exit (exit 11).  Turn right onto Graves Mill Road and proceed 1.7 miles to Route 221.  At the intersection, turn left onto Route 221 and proceed 2.5 miles to Route 811.  Turn left onto Rt. 811 and proceed one mile to Route 661.  Turn left onto Rt. 661 and then take first right onto Cameron Drive.  Follow Cameron to Ramblewood Road and turn right.  Take the 5^th left entrance onto Foxhall Drive.  Proceed .4 miles to the Poplar Forest Service Entrance.  Proceed up the gravel drive to the parking lot on the left.

Driving north on US Route 29 from Danville:
Driving north on Rte. 29 from Danville, continue on Rte. 29N (Wards Road) ½ mile past the Lynchburg Airport to US Route 460 West (Roanoke).  Turn right onto Rte. 460W and continue to the next exit “Rte. 678 – Airport Road to Greenview Drive”.  As you exit, stay to the right and continue to the traffic light at Greenview Drive and Leesville Road.  Continue through the traffic light remaining on Greenview Drive to the traffic light at Timberlake Road.  Turn left on Timberlake Road (460 Business) and continue for approximately 1.2 miles to the 5^th traffic light at Waterlick Road (Rte. 622).   Turn right onto Waterlick Road and continue for approximately 1.5 miles to Bannister Place (passing Locksley Place, Londonberry Road, Kirkley Place and Whitney Place).   Follow Bannister to the stop sign and turn right onto Ramblewood Road.  Continue on Ramblewood to the second street and turn left onto Foxhall Drive.  Continue for approximately .4 miles to the “Poplar Forest Service Entrance” on the left.  Follow the gravel driveway to the parking area.
