Treat Mom to a special tour of Poplar Forest this Mother’s Day. Enjoy a guided tour through the octagonal villa, from Mr. Jefferson’s kitchen to the rooftop deck where he and his granddaughters took their nightly stroll. Guides will share anecdotes, gleaned from letters and diaries, about Thomas Jefferson, his granddaughters and their life at Poplar Forest. Admission is free for mothers, all day!
In honor of Mother’s Day, join us for a new tour focused on the mothers and daughters of Poplar Forest. Meet the women of the plantation—its mistresses and the enslaved women who lived and worked on the property in a span of over 200 years. Gain insight into the lives of Poplar Forest’s female residents, discovered through true stories and anecdotes that have been documented in letters and archaeological evidence.
The Women of Poplar Forest tour will be offered at 1 and 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 13 and Sunday, May 14 and is included with the price of admission (free for mothers on Sunday).
