Join Poplar Forest for a reception and rare conversation between Thomas Jefferson, as portrayed by Bill Barker, and Eliza Hamilton, as portrayed by Michelle Smith, as they discuss the history, ideals and lives that link their legacies. The wife (and later, widow) of Jefferson’s revolutionary rival Alexander Hamilton, Eliza hosted a dinner for Jefferson upon his return from Paris in 1790.
The 2:15 p.m. matinee performance is preceded by a dessert reception at 1:30 p.m. The 7:30 p.m. evening performance preceded by a wine and cheese reception at 6:30 p.m.
Tours of the Poplar Forest villa are available before the matinee performance at the discounted rate of $9; tours are included in the evening performance ticket. Tickets are available for purchase online or by calling the Museum Shop at 434.534.8120.
