Following a brief winter break, Poplar Forest reopens to the public for Winter Weekends from January 16 to March 14, with guided tours offered every hour beginning at 10:30 a.m. Explore the octagonal villa Jefferson designed as his personal retreat, walk the plantation grounds, visit the slave quarter site, shop in the Museum Shop and browse the exhibits in the lower level of the house and in the 1857 Slave Dwelling.
Admission to Winter Weekends (Saturdays and Sundays from January 16 to March 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, last tour begins at 3:30 p.m.) is $18 for adults; $16 for seniors (ages 65+) and military (must show ID); $10 for college students (must show ID) and teens (ages 12 -18); $6 for youth (ages 6-11); and free for children under age 6 and Poplar Forest members. Reservations are required, as tour groups are limited to a maximum of 5 people. Face masks and proper social distancing are required in buildings and on tours.
Grounds Only admission rates are also available, which include all grounds and self-guided exhibits, but do not allow access into the main level of Jefferson’s villa. $10 for Adults (ages 13+); $5 for Youth (ages 6-12); free for children under age 6.
